  The PASSPORT Object Interface of the PASSPORT PC to Host and PASSPORT Web to Host terminal emulation software is recommended for new legacy integration projects that will use PASSPORT for host communication and will be deployed from a Microsoft Windows platform.

  PASSPORT includes an Attachmate-compatible Object API that lets you reuse existing screen-scraping applications written for Attachmate EXTRA!®. In most cases, the EXTRA! screen-scraping applications can be used 'as-is' with Zephyr terminal emulation software.

The PASSPORT Object Interface provides compatibility with the Attachmate EXTRA! OLE automation support and exposes terminal emulation objects such as the entire group of sessions, a single session, screen, area, OIA, keypad, etc. Applications that require host access and need to control multiple host sessions can use the Object API.

C++, Visual Basic, VB Script, Java Script or any language that can use the Microsoft COM object interface can be used for development. Developer assistance is provided to customers and opportunities with 100 or more units of the PASSPORT terminal emulation. The PASSPORT Object Toolkit, a time-saving developer resource, is available to no charge for customers or prospects with 500 or more units of the PASSPORT software.

When to Use: The PASSPORT Object Interface is recommended when you need to integrate 3270, 5250 or UNIX host applications with other Microsoft Windows applications, when you need to run existing Attachmate OLE automation applications with the Zephyr PASSPORT terminal emulation, or when you need to convert and run complex Attachmate EXTRA!® macros for use with the Zephyr PASSPORT terminal emulation.

PASSPORT Object Toolkit

A sample web application is provided in the PASSPORT Object Toolkit. This web application contains hyperlinks on a web page. Each hyperlink corresponds to an object method or property that executes a VB Script demonstrating its use. This sample application can be used as a starting point for your own web application.

The PASSPORT Object Interface includes a system manager object, a collection of sessions, a session object, screen object, area object and OIA object. Also included are keypad and toolbar objects for complete compatibility with the Attachmate EXTRA!® OLE automation support interface. Migrating Your Application to PASSPORT

Zephyr is also pleased to offer the PASSPORT Object Toolkit, a time-saving development tool designed to help application and web programmers reuse applications written for Attachmate® EXTRA!® Personal Client to Zephyr PASSPORT PC to Host® terminal emulation software. Since the PASSPORT Object Interface is compatible with the Attachmate EXTRA!® OLE automation support interface, in most cases your Attachmate application can be easily re-linked and used with PASSPORT 'as-is'.

HLLAPI Interface

HLLAPI (High Level Language Application Programming Interface) is recommended when PASSPORT is being used to replace an existing emulator and an existing PC HLLAPI application (many third party applications use this more traditional API for host access).
